Dolly-Parton
born on January. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually comprise 12 kids Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life by using her vivid and far-ranging imagination. Before she learned to write and read, she had already composed the songs she wrote herself. Her first guitar purchase came when she was 8 and started singing at the Knoxville Tenn radio station at age 11. In the same year, she released her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small label. Although she became popular in the local scene while she was at High School, she knew her goals were bigger. The day she graduated the high school in 1964. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) as well as Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for a new girl singer for his syndicated television show. Parton took the job in 1966. She then joined RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. The show ended in 1974 when her solo releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene had begun charting their collaborative efforts. Parton, after the split of their collaboration with Wagoner, wrote I Will Always Love You and had it reach the top spot at No. 1 for the first time since 1974.
