Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen, born 6 May 1964, is a Danish actor. He has played Copenhagen mayoral election candidate Troels Hartmann in the drama series The Killing, Charles Augustus Magnussen in the third season of Sherlock and the Russian president Viktor Petrov in the American House of Cards on Netflix and Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels. He received the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011, at the age of 27. In 1995, he was admitted to the National Theatre School of Denmark. Apart from his appearance in The Killing, [1] was also a part of Borgen III, a Danish drama that was widely and critically acclaimed. He also played a pivotal role in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock, where he played the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American television series House of Cards he played the President of Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his role in Danish drama Herrens Veje, which aired in the UK in the year 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm
